Honeypie Reopens in New Location

Bay View news alert!

Honeypie Cafe is reopening Thursday, May 13 in its new, much-anticipated digs (2569 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.).  This is a quiet “preview” reopening, with the grand opening set for Wednesday, May 19 – which is also the anniversary of the restaurant’s opening back in 2009.

Honeypie closed at its original space (2643 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) in November 2020, and since then has operated out of sister restaurant Palomino (2491 S. Superior St.).

At the new location (the former home of Alchemist Theatre), Honeypie will operate in two capacities for the time being – patio table service and walk-in pickup/carry-out. Founding partner Val Lucks says they hope to open for indoor seating perhaps in late summer.

As for the menu, they’ve brought back many Honeypie favorites from its 11 years. Hours, to start, are Wed-Sun 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Breakfast are offered every day until 3 p.m. The brunch menu runs Sat-Sun 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Beyond the favorites menu – and of course, beloved pies – the place has a full beer, wine and drink menu.

Lucks says there’s even a little retail area, selling some of her favorite pie-making tools and merch.

While pie lovers have been able to get their fix at Palomino and SmallPie (another sister restaurant, at 2504 E. Oklahoma Ave.), this is such welcome news.
