The Christening of Grand Duke George Mikhailovich of Russia, only son of Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia and Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia, before the miracle-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, at the Orthodox Church in Madrid on this day in 1981. The Grand Duke’s godfather is King Constantine II of Greece , and guests included King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain and Tsar Simeon II of Bulgaria, Princess Magdalena of Prussia, Infante Luís Alfonso of Spain, Princess Marisol of Bavaria, Prince Bagrat Bagration-Mukhransky, and Prince Georg-Dietrich von Schoenaich-Carolath.
