2 COVID-19 cases detected

May 6, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating two additional COVID-19 cases, both of which are imported.

The cases involve two women aged 42 and 32 who arrived from the Philippines and Indonesia. Both of them are asymptomatic.

Separately, the centre explained that an epidemiological investigation has revealed that the relatives of case number 11672, who have been classified as close contacts, attended gatherings with friends at Deep Water Bay Beach on April 25 and May 1.

Case number 11672, announced by the centre on April 18, involves a 31-year-old woman who lives in Parkes Building in Jordan.

As the case involves the N501Y mutant strain, the centre will arrange for attendees of both gatherings to undergo compulsory quarantine in accordance with the latest information.

A compulsory testing notice will be issued to request people who had stayed at Deep Water Bay Beach on April 25 and May 1 to undergo testing before May 8.

A total of 92 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days, including 18 local ones, of which four have unknown infection sources.

Besides Deep Water Bay Beach, the compulsory testing notice also covers BGI Health (HK) Company in Tai Po where a new preliminary positive case was detected.

Ten schools with outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness are also covered in the notice.

The Government will add mobile specimen collection stations at the open Space outside Ying Yat House and Luk Yat House of Yat Tung Estate as well as the public open space of Tung Chung Crescent and Town Square at Citygate in Tung Chung tomorrow.

Mobile specimen collection stations will be also set up at Chater Garden in Central, Soccer Pitch No. 6 at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay and the entrance of Lai Chi Kok Park and Tsuen Wan Park.

A total of 57 community testing centres/mobile specimen collection stations will be open tomorrow to provide a free service for those subject to compulsory testing including foreign domestic helpers.
