This was Ernie Adams' final draft as a member of the Patriots and to show his appreciation for all that he's done over the years, Bill Belichick allowed Adams to make the Patriots' final pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The behind-the-scenes footage was posted by the Patriots on their website and social media handles Monday morning.

Adams ultimately went with wide receiver Tre Nixon out of the University of Central Florida.

Before the pick was made, Belichick saluted Adams for all that he's accomplished over the years with the draft.

“I just want to take a moment to recognize Ernie,” he said, speaking to everyone who was in the war room. “We’ll do this at a more formal time later, but Ernie’s career, especially in the draft room, is legendary. It started in 1976 through all the great players with the Patriots. …

“Ernie, I just want to thank you. As your final draft in the final round, as we go to the final pick, it’s yours. Thank you for all of your contributions, not only here but to the game and to the process of scouting.”

Belichick also credited Adams with coming up with the Patriots' grading system, which he explained Friday night.
