Police, firefighters and paramedics from and Des Plaines and Mount Prospect were dispatched about 5:38 a.m. and 5:44 a.m., respectively, on Friday, April 30, 2021 to a report that a taxi driver crashed with a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line at Mount Prospect Road. The crash was located on the north side of the railroad tracks.

Des Plaines Squad 63’s crew on arrival reported a Metra train into a car on the north side of the tracks.

Two crash victims were reported to be conscious and alert.

The train was blocking Mount Prospect Road after the crash.

Initial investigation indicates the taxi stalled on the tracks and was hit by a slow moving Metra train.

The driver of the taxi cab was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, and the passenger, who was sitting in a back seat, was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The scene was cleared by 7:30 a.m.
