Add Spanx to the Long List of New Businesses at MKE Airport

This marks the completion of a $7 million investment in renovating the retail offerings at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport.

The first free-standing Spanx store in Wisconsin has opened at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport. The store is part of the transformation of nearly two dozen shops at Mitchell that started in 2019. Spanx, which sells undergarments, leggings and activewear, is in the pre-security area in the main terminal.

“We are excited to officially open Spanx and celebrate the grand finale of our major refresh of our shops,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “This will be a fun location for the traveling public and for the local community that wishes to shop at (the airport’s) unique stores.”

The store is open daily from 9 a.m. until the last flight departs.

The Spanx store’s arrival stems from a collaboration between the airport and retail partner Paradies Lagardère, which resulted in a capital investment of nearly $7 million at the airport.

To commemorate the grand opening of the Spanx store, the airport is providing two hours of free parking in hourly parking area for customers who make a purchase at the store.

The airport’s agreement with Atlanta-based Paradies Lagardère includes 30% participation from local Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, which exceeds Milwaukee County’s goal of 25%. The county operates the airport.

“We are very excited to complete this outstanding new retail program,” Paradies Lagardère President and CEO Gregg Paradies said. “With its powerful brand recognition and iconic fashion, Spanx will deliver an exciting shopping experience and quickly become a favorite retail destination in Milwaukee.”
