3 COVID-19 cases reported

April 24, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating three additional COVID-19 cases, of which one is a local case with an unknown source of infection while the other two are linked cases.

The unlinked case involves a 38-year-old foreign domestic helper who was asymptomatic. She underwent testing at a community testing centre on April 22 and tested positive.

As the case involves the N501Y mutant strain, the centre carried out prudent measures on infection control to stop the potential risk of spread.

Compulsory quarantine for asymptomatic residents was arranged last night for those living on all floors of Kennedy Terrace, 8 Kennedy Road in Mid-levels where the patient resided. So far, about 60 people were transferred to quarantine centres.

Meanwhile, as the patient had stayed on the 6/F of Ramada Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel in Sai Ying Pun, the centre is contacting people who stayed on the same hotel floor as the patient from April 4 to 7 to issue them quarantine orders to undergo compulsory quarantine for 21 days.

The centre also issued a compulsory testing notice to require people who stayed in the hotel from March 27 to April 23 to undergo testing by April 25.

A total of 164 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days, including 36 local cases, of which 16 have unknown infection sources.

Three premises and Asbury Methodist Kindergarten & Day Nursery in Tsuen Wan are included in the compulsory testing notice.

Hong Kong Christian Service Tin Heng Nursery School in Tin Shui Wai is also covered in the notice due to an upper respiratory tract infection outbreak.

The Government has set up a mobile specimen collection station at Gloucester Road Garden outside Immigration Tower in Wan Chai today. It will set up a mobile specimen collection station at Hiu Kwai House of Kwai Chung Estate on April 25.

Nine mobile specimen collection stations will extend their services to May 3.
