2 COVID-19 deaths recorded

The Hospital Authority today said two COVID-19 patients have passed away, taking the number of COVID-19 patients who died in public hospitals to 201.

 

One of them, a 69-year-old man with chronic diseases, was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s accident and emergency department on January 17 due to a cough and sore throat.

 

He subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the isolation ward for treatment. He was transferred to the intensive care unit as his condition deteriorated and he died this morning.

 

Another patient, an 83-year-old woman also with chronic diseases, went to the same accident and emergency department on January 22 due to a fever and shortness of breath.

 

She was admitted to the isolation ward for treatment after testing positive for COVID-19. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she passed away this morning.
