This play, a coming of age tale based on oral traditions of the African diaspora, tells the story of playwright Charlayne Woodard’s own turbulent childhood. The work, which you can stream from a web browser or through your TV, is being presented by Renaissance Theaterworks.
2. The Milwaukee Brewers vs. The Chicago Cubs

3. Riverside Theater Ghost Tours
APRIL 16-17
The Riverside Theater hasn’t hosted any concerts in quite some time. But that doesn’t mean the historic venue is entirely empty either. For two days this month, thrill-seekers can sign up for a 60-minute tour of the supposedly haunted theater, and venture to several spots not normally open to the public.
4. “Charles Munch”
APRIL 16-MAY 15
The Third Ward’s Tory Folliard Gallery is mounting a new exhibition this month, featuring Wisconsin artist Charles Munch’s work. Munch (born in 1945) is known for his formally simplistic but bright and expressive paintings, which have been featured in shows at the Milwaukee Art Museum and other major institutions.
5. St. James 1868 Luxury Wedding Show
APRIL 25
If you’ve been oohing and ahhing over this new event venue, you’re not alone. And you can see the beautifully renovated space in person, at this luxury wedding show. Guests who purchase a ticket ($125 per couple) will enjoy an afternoon of decadent drinks and hors d’oeuvres while chatting up some of the city’s best wedding vendors. There’ll be a fashion show too!
6. Up Close (But Not Too Close) with John McGivern
APRIL 23-25, MAY 7-9, MAY 14-16
Beloved Milwaukee personality John McGivern (the host of the former PBS program “Around the Corner” and upcoming series “Main Streets”) will be putting on a one-man show at the historic Pabst Theater this month and regaling audience members with tales of his childhood growing up on the East Side. Ticket-holders will be asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
7. First Lady of Song: Alexis J. Roston Sings Ella Fitzgerald
APRIL 27-MAY 23
The Rep’s back, baby. The venerable theater is welcoming an in-person audience to its intimate lounge space at the end of the month, for a one-woman musical show spotlighting singer Alexis J Roston’s talent. Social distancing will be practiced, and the venue will be limiting its capacity.
