Palm Sunday at the Royal Palace of Madrid, 1931

Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain (wearing her Aquamarine Tiara and Parure and the Order of Queen Maria Luisa) was joined by Infanta Beatriz (in Princess Beatrice’s Meander Bandeau Tiara and the Order of Queen Maria Luisa), Infanta Maria Cristina (wearing her Diamond Circle Tiara and the Order of Queen Maria Luisa) and various members of the Spanish Aristocracy as they participated in the annual Palm Sunday Procession in the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace of Madrid on this day in 1931, which was the last great event of the Spanish Monarchy, just days before the departure of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and the Spanish Royal Family following the failed results of a an election that was seen as a referendum on the monarchy.
