PNG Prime Minister James Marape has passed his condolences to the family, friends, and people of Kerema in the Gulf on the passing of the Member for Kerema Richard Mendani. Mr. Mendani died in Port Moresby on Friday night. Prime Minister Marape in a statement says the passing of Mr. Mendani is another great loss to the people of Kerema and Gulf Province in a short period of time. He says this followed the death of another great Gulf leader, former Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta. Mr. Marape says Mr. Mendani was an educated MP from a remote part of PNG who served his people well.
He says Mr. Mendani was first elected into Parliament in 2012 and was a two-time MP for Kerema until his passing. Mr. Marape says he came from a remote part of Gulf and held a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of PNG. He says the late MP was committed to serving his people, even in Opposition, until his untimely passing.
