Matt ‘Money’ Miller, Titus Andronicus Founding Keyboardist, Dies at 34

Matt “Money” Miller, the founding keyboardist of Titus Andronicus, has died, according to his cousin and the band’s frontman Patrick Stickles. He was 34.

Stickles announced Miller’s “sudden and untimely” death on the band’s Twitter account Wednesday. No cause of death has been revealed yet.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce to you the sudden and untimely death of Matt ‘Money’ Miller, founding keyboardist of Titus Andronicus, cover model of ‘A Productive Cough,’ lead vocalist of ‘Home Alone (On Halloween),’ my beloved cousin and the dearest friend I ever had,” Stickles wrote on the official Titus Andronicus Twitter account along their pictures. “It’s hard to know what to say, but I am trying to put gratitude first, as the 34 years that we spent together will forever be one of my life’s greatest blessings.”

He also added that Miller played the bartender in Titus Andronicus’ sitcom STACKS, which acted as Stickles’ fictionalized autobiography and also served as a conduit for the release of new songs from their 2019 and last studio album An Obelisk.

Miller played keys for the indie rock band when it formed in Glen Rock, New Jersey, in 2005 only until 2006, but his contributions extended beyond that year. He and Stickles’ childhood photo serves as the album artwork for Titus Andronicus’ 2018 LP A Productive Cough. From that same album, Stickles noted Miller can be heard as the “hypeman” on the song “Real Talk.”

He’s the lead vocalist of the title track of their surprise 2018 EP Home Alone on Halloween. Miller is also credited as an additional vocalist on other Titus Andronicus albums, including 2010’s The Monitor and 2015’s The Most Lamentable Tragedy.
