HK records 9 COVID-19 cases

March 8, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating nine additional COVID-19 cases, of which six are locally transmitted and three are imported.

Among the local cases, four have unknown sources of infection.

One of the unlinked cases involves a 36-year-old female security guard who developed fever on March 6 and last attended work on the same day.

The second case involves a 48-year-old waitress who developed chills on March 4 and last went to work on March 6.

The third case involves a 41-year-old housewife who developed a blocked nose on March 4.

The remaining case involves a 35-year-old male project co-ordinator who developed cough on February 28 and last reported for work on March 6.

A total of 222 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days, including 181 local cases, of which 59 are untraceable.

Meanwhile, seven places are now covered by compulsory testing notices.

Among them, since there was staff confirmed positive in Tower 15 and 16 of Crystal Cove of Caribbean Coast in Tung Chung, residents, visitors and workers there will possibly be subject to higher infectious risks and are required to undergo compulsory testing.

Those who had worked or had been on duty at these premises from February 23 to March 8 must undergo testing by March 10.

The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at Wang Lai House of Wang Tau Hom Estate in Wong Tai Sin, Cheong Yuen Building in Sham Shui Po and Block 6 of Belair Monte in Fanling.

The service period of the mobile specimen collection station at Edinburgh Place in Central will be extended to March 14.
