The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) inaugurated an automated multilevel puzzle car parking with a capacity of 264 vehicles at Firoz Gandhi Marg in Lajpat Nagar-3 on Saturday.
The 14.05-metre tower parking was constructed on a 978 square metre plot with a cost of `27 crore.
Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said that the civic agency has been making all efforts to decongest the areas under its jurisdiction by constructing automated car parking. “Recently the civic agency inaugurated a fully automated car parking in Green Park area and today it has delivered another parking with a capacity of 264 vehicles in Lajpat Nagar. Despite facing a financial crisis, SDMC is achieving new goals one after another,” he said.
SDMC Mayor Anamika said that the SDMC is achieving milestones in every field as it is committed to provide better services to the people living in Delhi. “The automated car parking capacity to accommodate 136 vehicles is operational in the Green Park area and another parking facility having capacity to accommodate 56 vehicles is near completion in Adhchini Village,” she said.
The mayor further said that besides all, the construction of an automated car parking facility to accommodate 136 vehicles in Nizamuddin Basti is in full swing. “Another car parking capacity of 399 vehicles is being constructed in M-Block Market in GK-1 and a car parking capacity to accommodate 210 vehicles is being constructed in M-Block Market in GK-2,” she added.
SDMC Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti said that the newly constructed multi level puzzle car parking is spread over 978-square meter area and a total of `27.18 Crore has been incurred on it. Parking users can take out their vehicle in a span of 150 seconds while in traditional design it takes nearly 15 minutes.
Bharti said that the maintenance and running cost of this facility will be lesser in comparison to other lots as it is based on modern techniques. He said that the work of automated car parking has been completed and tested with the trial run carried out successfully with the cars.
