HK reports 13 COVID-19 cases

February 25, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) today said it is investigating 13 additional COVID-19 cases, 12 of which are locally transmitted.

Among the local cases, three have unknown sources of infection.

One of the unlinked cases involves a 16-year-old student. He developed dizziness on February 23 and last went to school on the same date.

The other two unlinked cases involve a saleswoman aged 34 and a 62-year-old male quality control worker. The saleswoman last attended work on February 18, while the man last worked on February 24.

A total of 203 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days, including 166 local cases of which 70 are from unknown sources.

The CHP also reported that six confirmed cases and five preliminary positive cases have been detected recently at Mr Ming's Chinese Dining restaurant in K11 MUSEA, Tsim Sha Tsui and it is investigating whether the sources of infection are related.

Of the 11 cases, eight involve those who had lunch there on February 18 and 19 while three are restaurant staff.

According to the CHP's initial epidemiological investigation, seven patients visited the restaurant for lunch on February 19 and some of them do not know each other. It is believed that the restaurant was possibly the place where the transmission occurred.

In addition to the compulsory testing notice which requires those who had been at the restaurant from February 18 to 24 to undergo testing by February 26, people who visited the eatery from noon to 3pm on February 19 are urged to call 2125 1111 or 2125 1122 as soon as possible to facilitate the CHP's epidemiological investigations and contact tracing.

Compulsory testing notices issued

Eight buildings with one or more new confirmed cases are now covered by compulsory testing notices. People who had been at these premises for more than two hours from February 12 to 25 must undergo testing by February 27.

The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations tomorrow in Quarry Bay, Tai Kok Tsui, Ho Man Tin, Lai Chi Kok, Yuen Long, Tai Po Kau and Tiu Keng Leng. The mobile station at Butterfly Bay Community Centre in Tuen Mun will be set up on February 27.

Additionally, the service period of the mobile stations at Edinburgh Place in Central, Tung Chung North Park and Tai Po Community Centre will be extended. The mobile station at Wong Tai Sin Square, relocated from Muk Lun Street Playground, will open on March 7.

In view of the latest epidemic developments on the Mainland, the arrangement to provide specimen collection containers to inbound travellers arriving via land boundary control points who have been to Shaanxi in the past 14 days will be cancelled from tomorrow.

These travellers, if they are not exempted, are subject to compulsory quarantine for 14 days at a designated place upon arrival in Hong Kong.
