8 COVID-19 cases reported

February 18, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating eight additional COVID-19 cases, all of which are locally transmitted.

Among the local cases, three have unknown sources of infection.

One of the unlinked cases involves a 54-year-old staff member of Yuen Yuen Nursing Home & Day Care Centre for the Elderly (Shun Lee Estate). She developed a fever, sore throat and headache on February 12 and last attended work on February 15.

The other two unlinked cases involve housewives, aged 43 and 49, who sought medical attention at public hospitals on February 16.

A total of 282 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days, including 236 local cases of which 83 are from unknown sources.

Additionally, five buildings with one or more new confirmed cases are now covered by compulsory testing notices.

The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at Sau Mau Ping Estate in Kwun Tong, Greenhill Villa in Sha Tin and Sai Kung Jockey Club Town Hall tomorrow.
