Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra, HDK continue to lock horns over temple funding

Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra, HDK continue to lock horns over temple funding
UDUPI: The feud over the collection of funds for Ram Temple in Ayodhya between former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra continued for the second day on Wednesday.
If Kumaraswamy had likened the fund collection drive to a ‘Nazi’ style profiling of donors on Tuesday, the former CM on Wednesday hit back at those who questioned his stand, evoking an equally strong response from the Trust.

Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha swamiji, seer of Pejavar mutt, and a trustee of SRJTK said, “The Trust is not just any benami organisation. It is a registered organisation that has been set up as per rules governing its formation. The law of the land makes it clear about the powers that the Trust has to mobilise funds from the public. The Constitution has granted the Trust powers (to collect funds) and the fund collection drive is going on constitutionally, he said.
“There is no doubt on the need for transparency in an exercise of this nature. If there are any doubts about the processes involved, the same can be resolved,” the seer said, adding it is not right on anyone's part to continue casting aspersions on the process involved. The trust has entrusted VHP workers the responsibility of collecting funds on its behalf and local workers headed by local VHP leaders are collecting funds in their areas, he noted.
“VHP is not an organisation of lumpen elements (as described by the former CM). It is an equally responsible organisation,” the seer said, regretting use of such language to describe the Hindu organisation. The seer reiterated his argument that doubts if any should be clarified by seeking answers and will not be resolved by levelling allegations. “It will only lead to counter-allegations and there will be no clarity on the doubts,” he added.

Kumaraswamy in a series of Tweets hit back at detractors questioning him and his family over their stand not to donate to the temple fund. “False Hindu’s are growling on the streets for me questioning politics going on in the name of (Lord) Ram, loot of money, paeans sung to stick on to power. Let them remember that the prayer, pooja that we (as a family) have done to lord is not even 1/4th of the ‘Adhikara Rama Japa’ that they have done,” he said.
