Police and firefighter/paramedics from Morton Grove and Niles responded about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 to a report of a roof collapse with a natural gas leak at the indoor arena at the Glen Grove Equestrian Center at Golf Road and Harms Road in Niles Township.
Initial report was that no people or animals were injured and none were trapped. Winds are reported from the Northwest at 9 MPH.
Morton Grove Battalion Chief 4 on arrival reported a significant building collapse. The scene, which is less than 5 miles from the Lake Michigan shorline, is at an area impacted by a strong winter storm with deep lake effect snow.
