Wafios EcoBend tube bender can be retrofitted with second bending direction

Wafios has introduced the EcoBend series tube bender. While it’s designed for only one bending direction, it can be retrofitted with a second bending direction (TopBend) for future production projects with more complex geometries.

The fully electric bender delivers high operating speeds for series production. Multiple axes are controlled in parallel to optimize cycle and bending time. The WPS 3.2 EasyWay programming system unites simple geometry programming with intelligent software, the company reports.

A second tube stop at the end of the tube gripper extends processing length during manual loading by 1,300 mm. This helps ensure exact positioning of tubes even when loading long tubes manually. The workpiece is held by the tool, and the collet is opened, moves back, and regrabs the tube further at the back. The second tube stop also helps prevent tube oscillation.

The mandrel unit can be swiveled out to the side to allow processing of tubes of infinite length without a mandrel. When a quick change of workpiece geometries is required, the mandrel unit does not have to be dismounted. In addition, the bending mandrel can be set up from the front or back side of the machine.
