Police, firefighters and paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 10:07 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021 to a report of a generator on fire on the roof at Rivers Casino, 3000 South River Road in Des Plaines.
Engine 62 on arrival reported heavy, black smoke from the roof at Rivers Casino by 10:13 p.m. and was hooking up to the building connection.
The fire response was upgraded to a working fire response by 10:23 p.m. with firefighters and paramedics assigned from Schiller Park and Park Ridge added to Rosemont firefighters already on auto-assignment.
Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Township and Glencoe firefighters and paramedics were assigned to standby in Des Plaines fire stations.
A MABAS Division 3 Box Alarm #62F1 was activated at 10:34 p.m.
Firefighters, paramedics, and command officers were assigned from Chicago, Elk Grove Township, Elk Grove Village, Glenview, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, North Maine, Niles, Northbrook, Skokie, and Wheeling.
The fire was declared under control interior and on the roof by 10:51 p.m. with firefighters checking for extension.
The fire was declared out by 11:04 p.m. with fire command reporting beginning overhaul. The Box Alarm was struck out at 11:06 p.m.
There was initially no report of any injuries.
