Sartell man charged with assault over a parking space

From staff reports

A Sartell man is accused of assaulting another man with a screwdriver and threatening him, according to Stearns County Court records.

Michael Conner, 70, faces one felony charge of threats of violence and one charge of fifth-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

A person told police that Conner was upset over his use of a parking space reserved for people with disabilities without displaying the appropriate sticker, according to the statement of probable cause. Conner then confronted and hit him and made threats including: "I'll cut you open in your sleep."

Conner was allegedly holding a screwdriver, according to the same document. Police observed blood running down the victim's face and a small cut.

A woman who works in the building had been talking to the victim about the parking space when Conner attacked him, according to the statement of probable cause. Conner reportedly said: "I'll kill you both."

The incident took place on Wednesday.

Conner had a court hearing Friday. He has another scheduled for Feb. 19.
