Ross Cassidy and CB2 Reprise Partnership with New Upholstery Collection
“Instead of shouting for attention, the pieces have a clean silhouette,” designer Ross Cassidy says of his new upholstery collection for CB2. “When you look closer, you start to really enjoy them.”
In the second collaboration between the brand and Cassidy, a Los Angeles–based interior designer and former Million Dollar Decorators cast member, the designer’s personality infuses small, thoughtful details into each of the 30-plus pieces. From suede-wrapped finishes to irregularly shaped legs and whimsical mixed materials, the sense of intentionality is not lost on the viewer.
The custom color palette and refined textile choices, paired with references that span his favorite films—including the elegant KST Sofa inspired by Kristin Scott Thomas’s character in The English Patient and the Bozzi Chair, which draws from Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are—meld to create a collection that is ripe with what Cassidy describes as “quiet little moments,” an overall impression that is elevated but approachable.
To that end, the pieces are also meant to be entirely livable. “For this collection I was obsessed with making everything super, super comfortable,” Cassidy states. Even mid-pandemic, he was committed to testing the feel of each item. Similarly, the brand worked with Cassidy to source materials including sustainable wool, FSC-certified wood, and humanely sourced sheepskin to achieve his vision in a mindful manner.
