The opening episodes of WandaVision were a total departure from the Marvel movie formula. Thanks to whatever combination of mysterious forces was keeping Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) trapped in a decade-jumping sitcom prison, viewers were getting a flyby lesson in TV history while two relatively minor Avengers went about their quirky lives. The experiment was a hoot — and honestly, we’d watch an entire season of Scarlet Witch and Vis playing pretend without any winks to the camera.
But episode 4, “We Interrupt This Program,” departs from the formula in order to show WandaVision’s true Marvelness. There’s something strange going on, and a new trailer for the back half of the season promises more of what fans might expect from the MCU.

Marvel is finally having fun with its most confusing couple
The minute-long spot offers a look at the show’s upcoming spoofs (including Olsen slaying a Modern Family riff) as well as SWORD’s attempt to breach the forcefield encasing the made-up town of Westview, New Jersey. Vision, who was already catching on to unreality of his reality in episode 3, at some point becomes full aware of Wanda’s simulation, and even cracks through. But what does it mean if a dead AI rebuilt using telekinetic magic steps through the looking glass back into the real world? The trailer doesn’t give it all away, but Scarlet Witch certainly isn’t letting anything go without a fight. Somehow this all connects to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, mind you.
New episodes of WandaVision air each Friday. With five left to go, the show is expected to wrap up on March 5 — just two weeks before the premiere of Marvel’s next series, The Falcon and Winter Soldier.
