India made history on Day 5 after beating Australia in the series to conclude the fourth test with a 2-1 series win at the Gabba. Rishabh Pant was the player of the game.
India Wins Border-Gavaskar Trophy
The Aussies were desperate to own the series with only three wickets left in the life-line. But, the colossal effort from Indian keeper Rishabh Pant blew their chances of getting the most coveted cricket crown. Washington Sundar assisted the hot-hand Pant to chase 328 and marked their historic win in Test archives.
Pant strolled into the T20 area before putting 89 not-out in the famed run. The gritting Brisbane Test plunged few balls in the Indian side to take the challenge away from the nightmare Adelaide test where they bowled out for 36.
The Aussies trapped themselves in the dilemma of grabbing Border-Gavaskar chip and getting out of unsuccessful out batting of the Indian squad. Australia head coach Justin Langer was still in disbelief after the underdogs upset them in a wild bowling and spinning contest.
Aussie cricket commentator and former player Shane Warne said that the Indian cricketers deserved the win because they did better in the whole Test series.
"They got bowled out for 36, and then to come back and do what they've done, being depleted, their captain has gone home - plenty of questions will be asked of the Australians, there will be plenty of fallout," Warne said.
In a report by NDTV Sports, the Indians were sundered when vice-captain Rohit Sharma lose grasp on the wicket. It gave the moment for Shubman Gill to launch a crash-landing 91-run batting for 146, sandwiched by two 6s and eight 4s.
Righ-handed batsman Cheteshwar Pujara pulled the remaining curtains for the Indians after securing 56 runs off 211. Sundar and Ajinkua Rahane flashed inner virtuoso to engrave the additional points at the back of the Aussies, who emerged dominant in the early innings.

After being hailed as the player of the series, Pant said that the win was one of the biggest accomplishments that ever happened in his life.
The left-handed thumper added that it is a dream series for him after he passed for the first test match to practice swinging and batting.
Right-arm fast bowler Pat Cummins threatened India with his impressive skills. The 27-year-old vice-captain helped Australia to eliminate Pujara, Sharma, and Rahane, while on his way to remove the rest of the players, BBC reported.
Cummins continued to suppress India with a fourth-wicket catch at Mayank Agarwal as the Aussies shackled Sundar when he ran to Nathan Lyon.
Josh Hazlewood hit Pujara in the head and was slammed by the critics for his intentional act. Yahoo Sports said that the Aussie bowler was bashed by several socia media citizens.
This, however, did not stop Pant from driving to the wickets to leave Australia in pure annoyance and dismay after the game.
Australia captain Tim Paine praised India in their courageous end-game show-off. But on the other side, he was absolutely disappointed for his team for such performance in the Test.
Meanwhile, Rahane, India's captain is yet to figure out how to express his feelings with his team's victorious Test campaign.
We didn't talk about anything after Adelaide, we just wanted to show good character and express ourselves. It was all about a team effort," Rahane told.
