Testing for couriers set

January 17, 2021

The Food & Health Bureau today announced that the Government will provide a one-off free COVID-19 testing service to all couriers, including takeaway food couriers from January 19 to 31 via online booking.

There have been concerns about the transmission of the virus through door-to-door courier services, the bureau said.

It encouraged couriers to actively participate in the free testing, adding that booking for the service can be made starting today.

Couriers should make a booking for the free testing service via the community testing centre booking system. Those who do not make an appointment will need to pay $240 for the service.

When they arrive at the community testing centre, couriers should present the identity document used for the booking and the SMS booking confirmation for verification.

During the service period, each courier can receive free testing service once only.

In addition to attending community testing centres, couriers can utilise other free testing channels provided by the Government such as obtaining a deep throat saliva specimen collection pack from post offices, MTR stations or the Hospital Authority’s designated general outpatient clinics.
