Another “icebreaking” vessel:

An interesting project from the archives; in 2003 Robert Allan teamed with AKAC to design IBEEV (IceBreaking Emergency Evacuation Vessel) – a 44m vessel capable of evacuating 340 people from Caspian Sea offshore oil installations. The vessel was designed to break 0.6m of first year ice and operate in harsh winter conditions. One challenging element was the storage of clean air on board for breathing and combustion air enabling the vessel to operate in a toxic, hydrocarbon enriched, environment.
