Less than a week after Greg McGarity retired as athletics director at Georgia, the Bulldogs have found his permanent replacement in former senior deputy and interim AD Josh Brooks.

Brooks has worked at UGA for 11 years Brooks, and returned in 2016 as Executive Associate Director of Athletics after he served as Deputy Athletics Director at the University of Louisiana Monroe from 2015-16 and Director of Athletics at Millsaps College from 2014-15. Brooks was promoted to Deputy Athletic Director at UGA in May, 2018, and in January, 2020, was named Senior Deputy Director of Athletics.

When McGarity’s retirement announcement was made about a month ago, Georgia officials said they would conduct a national search.

In his previous roles at Georgia, Brooks served as the liaison with the Office of University Architects office on all athletic construction projects and with several campus departments as well as the president’s office. His responsibilities at UGA have included overseeing the departments of facility support, graphics and design, and turf management, according to his bio.

He has been involved in the scheduling of future football games as well as overseeing bowl game operations. He was also involved with the development and management of facilities, new construction projects for the Athletic Association, and planning the 2013 Jason Aldean Concert in Sanford Stadium.
