All state govt depts running at full capacity

KOTA KINABALU: All state government departments will be running at 100 percent capacity starting January 4.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun said this was to ensure the efficient delivery of the state public service.

However, he urged all public servants to adhere fully to the regulations and standard operating procedure (SOP) to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Masidi also informed that Enhanced Movement Control Order would be imposed at Kampung Timbang Dayang in Kota Belud from Jan 5 to Jan 18.

He said the decision was made after 24 cases were detected at the village.

In his daily statement on Covid-19 today, Masidi also shared that a total of 303 new cases were detected in Sabah, bringing the total positive cases to 38,172 as of today.

The highest number of positive cases were detected in Kota Kinabalu with 64 cases, Tawau with 47 cases and Lahad Datu with 39 cases.

Other districts with cases are Penampang (31), Sipitang (22), Papar (19), Sandakan (16), Putatan (14), Kota Belud (10), Pitas (9), Keningau (8), Kinabatangan (6), Kota Marudu (3), Tuaran (3), Ranau (3), Kalabakan (3), Semporna (2), Tongod (2), Beaufort (1) and Kunak (1).

Masidi said of the 303 new cases reported, a total of 221 cases (72.9%) are from close contacts, 56 cases (18.5%) from symptomatic tests, three cases from available clusters, and 23 cases from other categories.
He also informed that only 30.84 percent of hospital beds are presently in use.

Three new deaths were also registered today in Tawau, Keningau and Lahad Datu.

Meanwhile, another 147 patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of people cured from the virus to 35,530.

Presently, 1,971 patients are being treated with 665 hospitalised and 1,306 people at Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs).

Out of the total, 52 patients have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 15 requiring ventilation assistance.

Masidi also announced that as of January 4, 310,572 food baskets had been distributed to the target group.
He also shared that the compliance level of the people to the CMCO SOP is 97 percent in Sabah.
