Zoom is to allow unlimited free calls over the holiday period at the end of the year.
The video-conferencing platform usually limits users to 40 free minutes of video call time, but the company is removing that ceiling for four days from 23 December and 26 December and a further four days between 30 December and 2 January. This period also includes a part of the Kwanzaa holiday and the company has already made a similar gesture for Hannukah.
The holiday promotion comes as Zoom is reported to be considering the launch of an email service and calendar app to compete with Google and Microsoft. It also comes as Facebook is reported to be planning to bring voice and video calling to the desktop version of its WhatsApp messaging app next year.
