CRANSTON, RI — A parking ban has been declared in Cranston ahead of a significant snowstorm expected to hit the state starting Wednesday night.

It's bad news for kids looking for a snow day, however, since Cranston public schools shifted to fully distanced learning on Dec. 10, lasting through the new year.

"In true 2020 fashion, I couldn’t finish out my term as Mayor without getting us through one more snowmageddon...Bring it on!" Mayor Allan Fung wrote on Twitter.

The parking ban will go into effect at 5 p.m. and last until further notice.

Because of the expected snow, trash will not be collected Thursday. Instead, it will be delayed one say, with Thursday's collected on Friday and Friday's on Saturday.
