Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Streamwood responded at 1:24 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 0-99 Sieverwood Court near Hastings Mill Road on Streamwood’s north side.

Firefighters reported a smoke header showing in a view from Schaumburg Road, and the fire response was therefore upgraded to a working fire response “Code 4” before firefighters arrived.

The first crew on arrival reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the left side of the house when facing the house. Fire companies utilized a master stream and several hand lines to extinguish the fire that extended into the attic of one house and the outer surface of the house next door. A gas meter was involved in the fire, and Nicor was requested to respond to the scene, but firefighters were able to shut off the gas meters. ComEd was unable to remotely disconnect the power, and also responded to the scene.

Residents of both buildings were home at the time of the fire, but evacuated before firefighters arrived. There were no reported injuries, and damage to the interior of the home next door was limited.

The fire was declared out by 1:54 p.m.

Hoffman Estates, Bartlett, and Hanover Park firefighters assisted Streamwood firefighters at the scene. South Elgin and Barrington firefighters covered Streamwood fire stations to protect the rest of Streamwood during the working fire incident.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and fire investigators responded to the scene Thursday afternoon. Damage is estimated at $200,000.
