DANVERS, MA — The threat of snow will mean getting your car off the road in Danvers overnights through the end of March.

The Danvers winter parking ban began on Dec. 1 and will run until April 1. The ban, which will be enacted when conditions warrant, prevents cars parked on town streets between 1 and 6 p.m.

In the case of a "major" storm, the ban may be extended to daytime hours for as long as conditions and snow removal efforts warrant.

The fine for violating the ban is $25 with the possibility the vehicle may be towed.

When a parking ban is engaged, residents will be notified by phone, email and text message if you sign up through the town's emergency notification system. Town-wide calls will be made prior to 7 p.m. the night of the overnight ban. For major storms, bans will be enacted via phone call at least six hours before the pan is set to go in effect.

Danvers land lines are in the notification system and changes can be made here.

Information will also be posted on message boards in town, on Danvers Cable Access Television, town social media accounts and through local media.

The parking ban will remain in effect until it is lifted. Residents will also be alerted when that is the case.

Residents are asked to keep all vehicles off streets whenever snow is forecast to help the Danvers Department of Works conduct any snow removal necessary.
