House Fire Quickly Extinguished on Wilshire Ln Near Kensington Rd in Stonegate, Arlington Heights

House fire on Wilshire Lane near Kensington Rd, Arlington Heights.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 6:34 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 100 South Wilshire Lane in the Stonegate neighborhood in Arlington Heights.

Police were first on the scene by 6:37 p.m. and reported smoke showing from a window.




Tower 1’s crew, first on the scene, reported smoke showing and upgraded the fire department response to a working fire by 6:38 p.m.

Firefighters led out with a line to the rear and a second line to the front door. Interior firefighters reported a living room fully-engulfed with fire. The living room is located at the rear of the home.

One or all occupants were out of the home before firefighters arrived. No injuries were initially reported to residents or firefighters.

Firefighters from Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect and Prospect Heights responded mutual aid to assist Arlington Heights firefighters at the scene.

Engine 2’s crew declared water on the fire by 6:43 p.m. and the fire knocked by 6:45 p.m. Engine 2 firefighters immediately checked for extension of the fire and conducted a primary search.

Another crew assigned positive pressure ventilation (PPV) at the front door by 8:48 p.m.

Tower 1’s crew completed the primary search of the basement. Squad 1’ s crew conducted a primary search of the second floor. Arlington Heights Engine 4’s crew staged at a second hydrant, in case it was needed, and was assigned secondary search. The secondary search on the second floor was clear by 6:58 p.m.




Buffalo Grove Quint 25 and Arlington Heights Ambulance 2’s crew were assigned Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). Prospect Heights 9’s crew shut off the gas utility. ComEd shut down the power remotely, but also responded to the scene.

All primary and secondary searches were complete and overhaul phase was begun by 6:59 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
