Look outside

People are going stir crazy after months of stay at home orders. The four walls of the house are getting smaller and smaller and for many, emotions are getting more raw. Let me encourage you (us) to lift your eyes.

Look to the outside. Open a window shade or better yet, go outside if you can. God’s creation can give a refreshing, calming and even healing break.

Look outside your home. Life is still happening. We’ve come inside and done the right things - kids now zoom school, work is done remotely and even the closets are cleaned. But outside trains are running, birds fly, groceries are being delivered and babies are being born. You may even see kids riding their bikes or a neighbor jogging by. You are not alone.

Look outside yourself. It’s easy to be consumed with your own struggles and disappointments, but who do you see that could use a kind word or a helping hand? Even someone in your own house may need a thoughtful gesture. Many people are struggling today and a note or call may make a difference for both of you.

Look outside of the situation. God is at work and is bigger than any personal situation, trial, or even a worldwide pandemic. Having an eternal perspective can help with hope today. Our God reigns. He is above our circumstances yet chooses to join us in them.

Let’s look at Him.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
