First came the veteran big man with the reported addition of Tristan Thompson.

Now comes the veteran point guard. According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the Celtics are signing Jeff Teague to a one-year deal. Terms of the deal were not immediately reported.

The 32-year-old Teague is coming off a season in which he averaged 10.9 points and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 43.6% from the field (36.8% from three). He started the season with Minnesota before a midseason trade landed him back in Atlanta, where he spent the first seven seasons of his career.

Teague gives the Celtics a veteran backup point guard and some scoring off the bench, both of which they needed, especially after news broke on Saturday that Brad Wanamaker was signing with the Warriors.
