There were plenty of things Jeff Brohm wanted to say about the controversial pass interference call against Purdue tight end Payne Durham at the end of a 34-31 loss to Minnesota, but the head coach held back. Kind of.

Durham was flagged for pass interference after catching a go-ahead touchdown pass with less than a minute to play. It appeared to be a pretty clean play and a call everyone was critical of on social media after the game ended. Immediately after the penalty, Purdue quarterback Jack Plummer threw his first interception of the game.

Purdue lost 34-31 to Minnesota.

After the game, Brohm was asked a few questions about the controversial call. Clearly, he still wasn’t happy.

“I did not get a good explanation,” Brohm said. “Your guess is as good as mine.”

“I wish I could comment what I really think. …I just know there was a touchdown [Minnesota] caught earlier in the game, about the same area on the slot receiver, he gave a little nudge and they didn’t call that. I’ll just stop there.”

Brohm had a right to be upset after that call. You can bet he’ll be looking for an explanation from the B1G office as soon as he submits the tape, too.

Purdue fell to 2-2 on the season and is essentially eliminated from the B1G West race now. Minnesota improved to 2-3 with the win.
