The Legal Education Foundation is looking for 15 social justice organisations to host a Justice First Fellow, starting in January 2022:

Our Justice First Fellowship scheme will have a vital role to play as the social justice sector responds to the impact of the pandemic on legal advice providers and the communities they serve.

We are recruiting now for 15 social justice organisations to host a trainee solicitor, Justice First Fellow, starting in January 2022.

This is an open, competitive process. We welcome applications from current and former hosts, as well as organisations which are new to the scheme. Applicants must be committed to social justice, undertaking legal work of national significance, and capable of providing fellows with high-calibre legal training and support.

Most of our host organisations are not-for-profit legal agencies, but each year’s intake includes a small number of social welfare law firms, who share our commitment to ensuring access to justice.

The scheme, launched in 2014, aims to create future leaders in social justice, creating additional training places, and providing a pathway for young lawyers to have sustainable and rewarding careers in this vital area of law.

TLEF covers the full costs incurred by Nfps of hosting a fellow, including salary and supervision; in the case of private firms, the foundation covers half of these costs, with the host organisation meeting the rest.

Deadline for applications is 17 February 2021
