Man shot while directing rap video in Staten Island parking lot

A man was shot during an attempted robbery as he directed a rap video in the parking lot of a Staten Island American Legion post, according to police sources.

Karron McKenzie, 31, was working on the video with rapper Jefe Finesse in the veterans’ organization parking lot on McLean Avenue near Mills Avenue in the Arrochar neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when two men wearing ski masks approached, the sources said.

The duo went up to the crew, mainly Finesse, and asked, “What you got?,” according to the sources.

Then one of the suspects whipped out a gun and started firing, striking McKenzie, who was standing next to Finesse, the sources said.

He was hit in the arm and shoulder, cops said.

McKenzie ran inside the American Legion to take cover and left when he believed the coast was clear, according to the sources.

He didn’t realize he was shot until he was in the car, on the way to New Jersey, the sources said.

He drove himself to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ, where he was treated for his injuries and is expected to survive.
