Fans of the late Penny Marshall now have a chance to own her longtime New York City home. The director of films like A League of Their Own and Big, who died in 2018, owned the Upper West Side penthouse from the early 1980s until she sold it in 2017, and it is now back on the market for $3.9 million.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment could use a bit of a face lift, but there is no denying its historic charm. In the formal living room are a fireplace and a stained glass detai; the eat-in kitchen has a vintage tin ceiling. The best feature of the residence has to be the massive terrace, which wraps around the north and west sides of the unit, providing quite a large private outdoor space by New York City standards. Constructed in 1928 and designed by Emery Roth, the entire 16-story building is quite charming, with more stained glass details in the marble lobby as well as vintage bronze doors.

During Marshall's time there, she personalized it with quirky touches like a watermelon-print linoleum floor in the mint green 1950s-style kitchen, and baseball-themed wallpaper in a downstairs bedroom—and though we don't know if the new owners kept these things intact, we are certainly wondering.
