The All-Star Game was among the casualties baked into this 60-game season.

That was unfortunate for the Padres, who might have had a handful of selections based on the All-MLB teams Baseball America put together for the 2020 season.

Shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. and right-hander Dinelson Lamet were both named to the first team Monday, while third baseman Manny Machado was named to the second team.

All three figure to earn major award votes after the World Series — Tatis and Machado for MVP and Lamet for Cy Young.

The 21-year-old Tatis hit .277/.366/.571 with 17 homers, 45 RBIs and 11 steals in his second season in the majors.

In his second season with the Padres, the 28-year-old Machado hit .304/.370/.580 with 16 homers and 47 RBIs.

A third MVP candidate — outfielder Wil Myers (.288/.353/.606, 15 HRs, 40 RBIs) — was not selected to the team and neither were Gold Glove finalist Trent Grisham (.808 OPS, 10 HRs) or NL Rookie of the Year candidate Jake Cronenworth (.831 OPS, 4 HRs).

All three would have been worthy of All-Star consideration, as would have relievers Drew Pomeranz (1.45 ERA, 4 saves) and Trevor Rosenthal (1.90 ERA, 11 saves). All were left off Baseball America’s list.

Lamet’s inclusion certainly made sense.

He went 3-1 with a 2.09 ERA and finished in the top-five in the majors in strikeout rate (12.13 per nine innings), ERA, fielding independent pitching (2.48) and WAR (2.4).
