SUMMIT, NJ — Summit residents will have until mid-November to renew their annual parking and municipal disposal center permits and may do so through an updated online platform that the city’s parking services agency announced on Thursday.

The city’s new digital permit system is managed through license plate recognition rather than through a physical permit that is placed on a vehicle. Residents must renew their existing permit by Nov. 16 on the city’s online platform which can be found here.

New permits will be valid between Nov. 1 and Oct. 31, 2021. The permits are required by the City of Summit for all residents to park in municipal garages and lots and to use the city’s transfer station located at 40 Providence Ave.

Once residents register, they will receive an email that contains a temporary password and a link to the new system. Residents are asked to log into the system using their email address and temporary password. An email will be sent with instructions how to set a permanent password. To register more than one vehicle, residents will be asked to follow the instructions on the Help screen to provide documentation and payment information. Permit requests will be approved in 5-10 days.

The Parking Services Agency is available to assist residents with the permit renewal process if they are unable to initiate the process online. Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, appointments are required for in-office assistance, and are available Monday to Friday from 9AM -12PM. Masks and social distancing are required. For assistance by phone or to set up an appointment, call (908) 522-5100 or by sending an email to parking@cityofsummit.org.
