Ian Gorst portraitA two-day online event, designed by the Government of Jersey to help islanders and businesses prepare for the end of the Brexit transition period, is taking place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October.

The event will consist of public and invitation-only industry sessions focusing on travel, business and trade, to help attendees understand and prepare for the changes that will take effect from 1 January 2021.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, all of the sessions will be conducted via webinar.

The Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst (pictured), said: “We are working with Jersey Business, the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Jersey Finance to deliver what we hope will be an informative two days.

“As negotiations on the future relationship between the UK and EU continue, we are preparing for all potential outcomes, including what is known as a No Further Negotiated Outcome.

“Regardless of the outcome of these negotiations, there will be immediate changes for the island from 1 January 2021. We want to ensure that islanders, businesses and affected industries are aware of these changes and have time to prepare.”

All public sessions will be streamed via the Government of Jersey’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
