R.I.P. Don.

My wife and I had dinner with Don and his wife several years ago when we were visiting Abingdon, England with an MG group.. He was driving his one-off, factory, RBB, MGB roadster V8. After dinner Don did a walk around demonstration/explanation of the unique car in the restaurant parking lot. What a treat!

Sorry to hear this sad news, some video's on his years with the MG company were quite worthwhile to watch.
And what a friendly person, see amongst others:

Now all major persons for the design and production of the B: Syd Enever, John Thornton and Don Hayter are now gone forever

I was watching some YouTube videos from the “An MG is Born” documentary just the other day and he was shown in an interview where he talked about the design inspiration and development of the MGB. A fascinating man whose legacy will live forever. RIP Mr. Hayter.

A very sad day indeed.

I am sure that when he designed the MGB, Don had no idea, nor appreciation, of the huge following that his design would have on so so many folks all around the world, from it's inception to more than half a century later, with little sign of the disease or addiction diminishing.

My heart goes out to his family at this sad sad time.

RIP Don, and thank you for being the catalyst that started our hobby.
