Papar now a red zone, Beluran yellow zone
Kota Kinabalu: Papar became Sabah’s latest Covid-19 red zone after registering 18 new cases, its first double-digit daily rise, while Beluran became a yellow zone with its two cases on Tuesday.

Papar, which became a red zone for the first time amid the nation’s second wave of the pandemic, hit an active case total of 46, data from the Sabah Health Director issued on Wednesday showed.

Fifteen were close contact screening cases, two symptomatic screening cases and one health worker.

Beluran also had one positive health worker and a symptomatic screening case.

Meanwhile, another red zone, Kota Kinabalu, continued its newly acquired double-digit daily trend with 42 cases on Tuesday but also-red zone Semporna, which now has the most active cases at 559, topped the daily list with 61 new cases.

Another red zone, Tawau, saw an increase of 28 cases and Sandakan, also a red zone, got 33 patients more, while Lahad Datu was the only red zone seeing a single-digit case rise at seven and Kunak the only red zone with no new cases.

Yellow zones with new cases only saw a single-digit increase on Tuesday -- Kota Belud (2), Kudat (two), Pitas (2), Ranau (7), Kinabatangan (1), Tambunan (4), Beaufort (1), Penampang (3), Putatan (5) and Tuaran (2).

Also yellow zones, Kota Marudu, Telupid, Keningau and Sipitang saw no new cases while Nabawan and Tongod, both in the interior, remained Sabah’s only green zones or districts without active cases.
