H-TEC to supply 4 MW of electrolysers for German regional H2 project
Mar 13, 2024 11:28 CESTSiemens Energy AG (FRA:ENR) on Friday said it has teamed up with German company WUN H2 GmbH on the development of a green hydrogen project in Bavaria.
In the first phase, the production plant will have a power intake of 6 MW and it will be supplied from 100% renewable sources. The electrolysis facility, which will utilise Siemens' Silyzer 300, will have the capacity to produce more than 900 tonnes of hydrogen annually in this phase. It is projected to expand to a capacity of up to 2,000 tonnes.
The companies are expected to break ground on the plant in Wunsiedel by the end of 2020 and the facility is due to be operational at the end of 2021.
The hydrogen plant is expected to help ease grid bottlenecks and make the grid more flexible. In the future, there may be a public hydrogen filling station for trucks and buses on site.
Siemens Energy is a spin-off from Siemens and includes the German giant's energy business that offers gas and steam turbines, generators, transformers and compressors, along with wind turbines through its 67% stake in Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE).
