Four People Shot on South Claremont Ave Near 69th St, Chicago

A total of nine people were wounded between the shootings at 68th Street and Claremont Avenue and at 122nd and May streets. CBS 2’s Steven Graves reports.

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Chicago responded about 4:57 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 to a report that four or five people were shot outside on Claremont Avenue between 68th Street and 69th Street. The shooter was reported to be last seen running eastbound in an alley north of and parallel to 69th Street.

Upon arrival in a residential Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police discovered four people shot. Chicago firefighter/paramedics initially reported four gunshot victims Code Red. A Chicago Department EMS Plan 1 was activated at the scene by 5:06 p.m.




A 30-year-old male gunshot victim was shot multiple times near the abdomen and transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

Other patients were transported to Level 1 Trauma Center University of Chicago Medical Center and also to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center where they were listed in “stable condition.” The three other gunshot victims were a 23-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man.

One other patient was transported to Holy Cross Code Green with unknown injuries.
