Life of Focus: Now Open

The first session Life of Focus, the online course I created with Scott Young, is now open. The registration period will last until Friday, September 4th (midnight Pacific Time).

As I elaborated last week, this course is designed to help you transform both your professional and personal lives so that you focus more on things that really matter, and spend less of your day mired in distractions that don’t. It will then help you train your brain to make the most of the time you put aside for these important pursuits.

Drawing on ideas first explored in our bestselling books, Deep WorkDigital Minimalism, and Ultralearningthe course is divided into three months, each built around a concrete project that pushes you forward in your transformation into a life of focus. You’ll be guided in these efforts by video lessons, worksheets, and community support from your fellow students.

We’re proud of this course. We’ve been working on it for well over a year and have integrated into its construction the hard-won experience gained from serving over 5,000 students in our last online offering, Top Performer.

You can find out more details about the course and register here.

We’ll be closing registration on Friday. I hope to see you in the course!

(And if this is not of interest, worry not: this is the last blog post you’ll see about this session of the course. I will be sending some more information to my email list this week, but I’ve added a link to these emails that allows list subscribers to easily opt-out of receiving these course-related emails.)

  1. Wasn’t the last course also priced similarly at 500$ (smallest package)?
With 5000 students that results in a substantial amount.—My honest congratulations to the two of you!

However, with book royalties and speaking gigs, the career side that evolved from study-hacks would alone be a sufficient means of income for a majority of your readers.

Doesn’t that put some life and career advice given into perspective, if—financially—your professional career in academia could essentially just be a hobby as compensation is not required to cover bases?

  2. Signed up! Looking forward to this and looks like an incredibly thoughtful, well put together programme. I’m in the last few months of my PhD and I’m also a researcher, but I have struggled so much with focus and attention since the rise of the internet. I love my job, but as I am only on temporary contracts in research I need to take focus seriously to help me stand out from other researchers.
    So, thanks!

    • how did you find it? And was it self-paced or also include live sessions? I possibly have a chance to do it this time but am worried about watch recorded videos in your own time with a digital comment forum-style course!

  3. I love the idea of this course, and the syllabus looks excellent. However, I’m a PhD student, and the price is a bit beyond the outer reaches of my budget. Is there any chance that you could offer a student discount? Or scholarships?

  5. Just wanted to say that I have a ton of respect for making it easy to opt-out of sales messages related to this course without opting out completely. Taking a class right now doesn’t make sense in my life right now, and I appreciate that I was able to remove what is clutter to me at this time without having to sacrifice the rest of your content.
