Firefighters Rescue Woman from Apartment Fire on South Arlington Heights Rd Near Sigwalt St, Arlington Heights

Woman rescued from second floor smoke-filled apartment in fire in mixed retail, residential building in Arlington Heights.

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 3:35 AM Wednesday August 27, 2020 to a report of an apartment fire in the block of 100 South Arlington Heights Road. The fire was located above the Transformations store at the southwest corner of Arlington Heights Road and Sigwalt Street.

Firefighters on arrival discovered smoke coming from a front window and a woman calling for help out a rear window of a smoke-filled apartment. Firefighter/paramedics were able to help the woman walk down a rear staircase to safety outside. The woman was transferred to a rescue ambulance on Arlington Heights Road and assessed by paramedics.




The fire was upgraded to a working fire response about 3:39 a.m. with firefighters from Rolling Meadows and Palatine assigned to assist Arlington Heights firefighters at the scene. Firefighters washed down the interior where the fire was located to cool any hot spots, and knocked out windows to ventilate and clear the apartment of smoke

The fire was possibly caused by the improper discarding of a cigarette, but the true confirmed cause of the of the fire is under investigation.
