A Denver grand jury indicted five people who are accused of stealing pickup trucks from parking lots Denver International Airport and using money from their illegal sales to buy drugs.
Miriam Alvarez, 28, Alan Lopez-Reyes, 26, Pedro Marrufo-Garcia, 32, Robert Mills, 26, and Uriel Ureno-Garcia, 31, are charged with violating Colorado’s Organized Crime Control Act, first-degree conspiring to commit aggravated motor-vehicle theft, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession with intent to manufacture or distribute a controlled substance, identity theft and criminal trespass, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
The five were part of an alleged criminal enterprise that stole approximately 70 motor vehicles from parking lots and hotels around DIA. The ring primarily stole Ford F-Series trucks and Chevy Silverado trucks although other makes and models were taken, according to the indictment.
The ring stole an estimated total of $1.2 million in vehicles and other property. The participants allegedly traded or sold stolen property to buy heroin, methamphetamine and other illegal drugs, the indictment said.
