Great Static Boom Pole for the Price

Great Static Boom Pole for the Price
Being a lighting and camera guy, I use this boom pole only to capture audio for interview setups. I place the pole into a holder on a C-Stand and let it live there. I find the internal cabling allows me to not worry about wasting feet of XLR to “candy cane” the pole. I also love being able to just telescope the pole at will without needing to remove it from the holder to feed it more XLR slack. When I do occasionally use the boom pole handheld, I notice the significant internal cable rattling mentioned by other purchasers. But, if I am careful in my movements, I can usually keep this to a minimum. However, if I was routinely boom operating, I’m fairly certain this need to “baby” the equipment would become incredibly frustrating. Finally, the pole’s construction seems very solid. Would I want to drop it more than once on a hard flooring surface? Probably not. But, at this price, if I did and it broke, it wouldn’t kill me to replace it!Finally, it’s certainly heavier than a carbon fiber pole (duh). When you start adding a hefty phantom powered condenser mic, a decent shock mount and blimp, I’m sure this thing gets pretty difficult to hold for longer takes.TL;DR - great solution for static booming at an excellent price. However, if you’re an industry boom op, I’d advise looking at a higher price point.

Works better than my old one... which was literally an old hockey stick..😟

This boom is as good as a brand name for ⅓ the price. Excellent quality and functionality for the price. As a Low budget well actually a "no budget" filmmakers like me can't beat this stick... I couldn't have rented a handheld boom for the price of this one.
